Today, I'd like to draw attention to a topic because it affects some of us, including myself. Depression is an illness and not a fleeting feeling of sadness. No, it goes much deeper. The soul cries, the heart is broken. We don't want pity or stupid sayings like "just smile," "don't look so sad," or "pull yourself together." We need understanding and love, even if we can't give it to ourselves. A hug that comes from the heart and says, "We can do this together, I'm here for you," gives us, those affected, hope for a better life without our inner demons.
